Despite its unfortunate title, this is a very interesting history of clothing styles for each decade throughout the 20th century. From each decade at that place are lots of illustrations and photographs, mostly in color; a timeline across the top of the double pages with important news events; and sidebars which list "Fashionistas, Designers, Make-up, Must-haves, and Hairstyles." There are also comments on the feel of the times for each decade.

Despite its unfortunate title, this is a very interesting history of wear styles for each decade throughout the 20th century. From each decade in that location are lots of illustrations and photographs, by and large in color; a timeline across the tiptop of the double pages with of import news events; and sidebars which list "Fashionistas, Designers, Make-up, Must-haves, and Hairstyles." There are also comments on the feel of the times for each decade.

There are two major faults with this book. The first is the title--while the subject and the illustrations would be of involvement to middle schoolers and perhaps belatedly elementary school students, the championship is going to keep many of them abroad. The book also suffers from a lack of editing. Marilyn Monroe is wearing a pencil apparel with a foam colored skirt and a blue bodice, not a cream colored pencil apparel with a blue bodice (or maybe it's a cream colored pencil skirt with a dissever blue bodice). There'south a flick of pleated dresses next to text which says dresses were costless of pleats in the 1940's. And on and on.

Probably of involvement to centre school girls who aren't put off by the title.

Strong, open design and large photographs fit the content of this introductory mode manual. Loaded with basics and trivia. Wonderful to agree (Prestel, you spoil united states!). Refreshingly non-gendered writing and colour scheme. Splendid choice of artwork and photographs. Winning nonfiction.

This volume drives me insane. Information technology's designed really engagingly, lots of colorful graphics, tons of photos. Permit me rephrase: tons of photos of white women. There is a single photograph of a black woman on literally the concluding folio. The just other non-white women are the women in the harajuku girls section. The choice of photographs only reflects full laziness. I definitely won't recommend this to kids at my library because it's such a ho-hum whitewashed version of fashion history. Didn't like some of the blueprint elements of the text in the book. A lot of asterisks and nowhere to find the information. As well the fashion for today I though was rather lackluster.
